Introducing Irish Truth

Investigating the history. Challenging the narrative. Following the evidence.

Irish Truth is the investigative journalism and fact-checking section of the UlsterSociety.com, dedicated to examining historical claims, political narratives and uncomfortable truths surrounding Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Troubles.

Approaching its subjects from an openly unionist perspective, Irish Truth seeks to challenge misinformation, historical revisionism and political propaganda, particularly where established narratives have obscured inconvenient facts or overlooked important evidence.

Our investigations examine the activities, statements and historical records of political organisations, public figures and institutions. Particular attention is given to contradictions between contemporary accounts and the historical record, including material preserved in newspaper archives, official inquiries, court judgments and historical publications.

Irish Truth does not claim political neutrality. It does, however, demand factual accuracy.

Every investigation aims to distinguish documented facts from allegations, interpretation and opinion. Sources are identified, references provided and historical claims examined against the available evidence.

The objective is not simply to revisit the past, but to ask questions that remain relevant today: what actually happened, what was known at the time, what has subsequently been forgotten, and whether the accounts presented to the public withstand scrutiny.

History should not be beyond question. Neither should those who claim to speak for it.
